For many, a dream come true. After a short ride, we arrive in the territory of these enthusiastic four-legged friends. The dogs are eager to show us what they can do and take us 10 kilometers through their area.

Before you hop on your own sled, you'll receive instructions on how to steer the sled, how to brake, and how to handle the dogs. You'll be in charge of steering your own sled. Halfway through, you'll have the chance to switch places with your passenger. After the ride, we’ll have time to warm up in a Finnish cabin with (of course) a cup of hot berry juice.

Since the Sami (the oldest, independent, recognized people of Lapland) discovered this motorized vehicle, they let their reindeer roam free and swapped their pulling power for sturdy horsepower. Today, many of them use snowmobiles for their daily commutes and some thrill-seeking, but mainly to herd their reindeer.

After we’re clearly instructed on how to safely operate these machines, we set off in pairs for a 20-kilometer journey through the Lapland landscape. We stop halfway to switch drivers.

* If you do not have a driver's license B, you can experience the ride as a passenger. Children from 4 years old can sit in a sled attached to the instructor's snowmobile. Children taller than 140 cm may sit as a passenger with an adult, provided the instructor agrees.

To best observe the northern lights, your guide will take you to a carefully selected spot. While we hope for a stunning display, it's still a natural phenomenon, and there's no guarantee we'll actually see it. As we eagerly watch the sky, we'll make a campfire. Your guide will share fascinating stories about local myths and legends, as well as the scientific explanation behind this extraordinary phenomenon. In the meantime, we'll enjoy a warm drink, a roasted sausage, or some marshmallows.

Our Lapland Travel guide will take you through beautiful forests, along gently flowing rivers and across frozen lakes to discover the winter wonderland of Lapland in its purest form.

Along the way, the guide will show you a variety of landscapes and share insights about the fauna and flora of the region. During the hike we may stop occasionally to make a small fire, take a break and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before continuing the journey.

For Finns, it's a typical weekend activity! With your fishing rod, bait, and hand auger, you'll learn to catch your own fish in a hole in the frozen lake the traditional way.

Ice fishing, or as we say: pilkki, is a popular hobby in Finland. We'll take a snowmobile to a remote lake, where we can quietly try our luck. After drilling a hole in the ice of the lake and getting our fishing rods ready, we'll be all set to hook a fish.

Fun for everyone! Enjoy the peace and nature at your own pace as we guide you through the beautiful areas of the national park. The bike trails run through forests that are completely covered in snow.

You’ll get a special bike that makes it easy to ride on the snow without slipping, thanks to its thick tires. You'll take a short break at a wilderness café or an open spot to grab a quick snack.

In extreme low temperatures (< -20 °C), this activity may be canceled. In that case, we will do our best to reschedule the activity for another time (if possible).

Reindeer have been grazing for centuries across the vast meadows of Lapland. In the summer, they roam freely in the forests and fields. Once the snow covers all their food with a thick layer, they return to their farm where they are fed and cared for.

During the winter months, except when they fly around the world on December 24th, they also take on their original role: transporting people through the snow. At the reindeer farm, we learn that a reindeer can carry three times its own weight, has special hooves to dig through the ice for food, and sheds its antlers in winter (as they only need them to impress during the mating season in summer).

After a ride, we get to reward our reindeer with some food, see the rest of the herd, and learn all about these amazing animals over a cup of warm berry juice, what else?

Finnish Lapland is a cross-country skiing oasis. In the area around our lodges, there are a total of 330 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails. After a brief introduction where you'll learn the techniques, your guide will take you along gentle and peaceful paths that are perfect for getting started with this national sport!

Every year, thousands of travelers visit the unique Lampivaara Amethyst Mine – a sustainable gemstone mine located at the top of the hill in the heart of Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Here, you won’t find large machines or mass production: everything is hand-excavated, with respect for nature and ancient traditions.

You’ll be taken to the mine by a special snow train, the Amethyst Pendolino, enjoying the snowy landscape along the way. Once at the top, you'll get a guided tour filled with stories about the geology, history, and mystique of the purple gemstone, which has been in the ground for over 2 billion years.

After that, it’s your turn to get to work: dig for your own lucky stone. Everyone is allowed to keep one amethyst (that fits in your fist) – or for a small extra fee, you can even take home your entire find. The tour concludes with a visit to the charming Little Stone Shop, where you can buy local jewelry and stones that are only available here.

Luosto is located on the edge of the beautiful Pyhä-Luosto National Park, an untouched winter wonderland filled with hills, frozen lakes, and endless forests. One of the absolute highlights of this region is the Lampivaara Hill, where you have an impressive 360° view over the white wilderness. And the most exciting way to get there? On a snowmobile, of course.

During this full day tour, you'll venture deep into nature on a powerful snowmobile. You'll ride over frozen marshes, climb rolling hills, and traverse fairytale-like forests covered in a thick layer of snow. This trip is perfect for those who love action, speed, and breathtaking landscapes.

Kota is a traditional Sámi hut in Luosto, perfect for an authentic wilderness experience. Groups of up to 20 people can enjoy local specialties prepared by our chef using the best organic and local ingredients. Dinners are exclusively in the evening and on a private basis, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful meal with your company.

Do you feel like strapping on your skis during your free time and hitting the slopes? That’s definitely possible! Luosto offers a charming and compact ski area, perfect for both beginners and more experienced skiers.

With well-groomed slopes, peaceful descents and beautiful views over the surrounding national park, Luosto is an ideal place for those looking for a relaxed yet authentic ski experience in Lapland.

This activity is not included in the program and can be arranged on the spot if you wish. You can easily rent ski equipment and purchase a ski pass for the day directly at the ski resort.

As an indication, a day ski pass costs around €49 for adults, while ski equipment rental starts from about €42 per day.

Our glass cabins are about a 15-minute drive from the center of Luosto. They're nestled in the forest and spaced out, so you can fully enjoy peace, privacy, and the pure nature of Lapland with your partner.

Thanks to the panoramic glass roof, you get a stunning view of the sky right from your bed. When the Northern Lights appear, you’ll experience the spectacle from the front row.

The cabin is designed for two people and features a double bed, a cozy seating area, and a private bathroom with a shower and toilet.

On the property, there’s also a restaurant where you can enjoy a gourmet dinner in the evening and a delicious breakfast in the morning, all while overlooking the vast, snowy landscape.
